Geraldine McDaniel Redding

Geraldine McDaniel, 87, of Redding died March 17, 2013, at Comfort House Hospice Home in McAllen, Texas.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Bill Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Redding Cemetery. Open visitation will be held noon to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later. Geraldine McDaniel, daughter of Ethel (Howie) and Robert Wainwright, was born March 11, 1926, in Creston.

She moved to San Luis Obispo, Calif., when she was 18 years old.

On May 28, 1948, Geraldine married Leo N. McDaniel in San Luis Obispo, Calif. They lived in California until moving to Redding in 1962 to farm.

Geraldine was a 4-H leader and baseball coach.

Geraldine and Leo have spent their winters in south Texas since 1983.

Geraldine is survived by her husband Leo McDaniel of Redding; sons, Robert (Diane) McDaniel of Olympia, Wash., David (Brenda) McDaniel of Dousman, Wis., and Mark McDaniel of Redding; grandchildren, Kristopher (Nina) McDaniel of Syracuse, N.Y., Katherine McDaniel of New York, N.Y., Eric (Catherine) McDaniel of Madison, Wis., Scott McDaniel of Dousman, Wis., Teresa McDaniel of Mukwonago, Wis., Rachel (Mark) Doolittle of Kellerton and Ryan McDaniel of Fairfax, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Michael, Brandon and Brittany Lane and Leneah, Noah and Safria McDaniel; and sister Norma McCullough of Phoenix, Ariz.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one nephew.
