Dennis Eugene Gardner, 54, 402˝ S. Elm Street, was charged with simple assault 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.

According to a Creston Police report, Gardner struck another male about the head and face with his fist without provocation. The act caused pain and injury to the victim.

Gardner was released on promise to appear.

Todd Michael Murray, 18, 1107 E. Howard Street, reported a theft of two license plates Tuesday from a motor vehicle while it was parked at his residence. Loss estimate is $5 for each plate
