Wayne Badgett Prescott

Wayne Badgett, 90, of Prescott died March 24, 2013, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at the First Presbyterian Church in Corning. The Rev. Ken Rummer will officiate. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Iowa and/or the First Presbyterian Church in Corning. Online condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Wayne Raymond Badgett, son of Nora (Miller) and King Richard Badgett, was born May 12, 1922, on the family farm in Adams County.

Wayne attended Corning High School and graduated in 1941.

On Jan. 22, 1943, Wayne married Dolores Aileen Dory in Maryville, Mo.

Wayne and Dolores farmed in Adams County until they moved their family to Oregon in 1952.

After returning to Corning in 1961, Wayne started a welding and repair business on the land where he had attended the Pottinger School as a child.

Wayne was a member of the Christian Church in Milton-Freewater, Ore., Corning Camping Club and Iowa Blacksmith Welder’s Association.

Wayne is survived by his special friend Phyllis Steadman; children, Karolyn Badgett (friend Lorin Eilers) of Creston, Larry (Isako) Badgett and Gary (Diane) Badgett of Corning and Jerry (Donna) Badgett of Prescott; grandchildren, Debbie England (friend Dave Bickford) of Corning, Derek (Elizabeth) Drew of Omaha, Neb., Jason (Brenda) Badgett of Ames and Megan (Clark) Crow of Creston; great-grandchildren, Tristan (Kristy) England, Dillon, Colton and Leighton Drew, Aubrey, Neelya and Xarianna Badgett, Jay and Colton Crow; and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dolores in 2000; brothers, Rex, Max and Roy; sisters-in-law, Orrie, Ruby, Geraldine and Darlene Badgett; and niece Phyllis Sevier.
