DeWitt Invite

cancelled

OSCEOLA — The DeWitt Invitational track meet scheduled for today in Osceola has been cancelled, with no makeup date.

The Creston girls track team was looking to defend its title at the event, after winning last year.

Creston’s next meet is scheduled for Tuesday in Clarinda.

Crossbow hunting

The Iowa House approved a measure Wednesday to expand crossbow hunting of deer by allowing residents to use crossbows during the late hunting season, from Dec. 17 to Jan. 10.

Hunters would not be required to purchase a separate crossbow hunting license.

Currently, only muzzleloader and archery hunters can hunt deer during that season.
