Leo McAuley, 82, of Creston died March 27, 2013, at Greater Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jim Woodworth will officiate. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery near Kent. Military rites will be conducted by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post 1797 of Creston. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to be established. Online condolences may be left at

Leo Wayne McAuley, son of Bertha Margaret (Hay) and Hugh Pary McAuley, was born June 26, 1930, in Kent.

Leo graduated from Louisberg High School in Louisberg, Mo., and went on to study at DeVry Technical School.

Leo served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1949. He then worked for a munitions plant and later worked for the Bendix Plant in Kansas City.

In 1960, Leo began working as a radio mechanic for TWA Airlines in Kansas City.

On Nov. 10, 1962, Leo married Evelyn Pauline Beckett in Kansas City, Mo.

In 1966, they moved to Dearborn, Mo., where they lived and raised four children. They later divorced in 1987.

Leo retired from TWA in 1991. He moved to Clearfield.

Later, Leo married Margaret McAuley; she died in 1999.

On July 21, 2002, Leo married Martha (Jeske) Brand in Creston at the First Presbyterian Church, and they settled in Creston.

Leo was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Creston, where he served as an Elder. He was the former mayor of Dearborn, Mo., served for more than 20 years on Dearborn Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the International Association of Machinist Union.

Leo is survived by his wife Martha McAuley of Creston; sons, Perry (wife Delba) McAuley, Timothy (wife Kris) McAuley and Tom McAuley, all of Dearborn, Mo.; daughter Michele Zabel of St. Joseph, Mo.; stepsons, Gary (wife Donna) Dudney and David (wife Nina) Dudney, all of Lorimor; stepdaughters, Sharon (husband Mike) Ambrose of Kent, Carolyn Cumming of Macksburg and Kelly (husband Mike) Toppin of Lorimor; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his second wife, Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray and Ronnie McAuley and sisters, Dorothy Reisetter and Agnes Summerfield.
