Demond ‘P-nutt’ Washington Creston

Demond “P-nutt” Washington, 27, of Creston, formerly of Avenger, Texas, died March 26, 2013, at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Demond “P-nutt” Rushawn Washington, son of Robbie Runete (Smith) and James Washington Jr., was born July 23, 1985, in Galveston, Texas.

He graduated from Texas High School in 2003, in Texarkana, Texas. He later attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.

On Feb. 13, 2006, P-nutt married Melonie Dawne Albright in Hallsville, Texas. They settled there before moving to Creston in July of 2006.

While in Creston, P-nutt had worked for Walmart as a night stockman and later for Farley’s & Sathers Candy Company as a machine operator.

P-nutt is survived by his wife Melonie Albright-Washington; son Daylon Demond Washington; daughter Abbiness Mae Ruaette Washington; mother Robbie Smith of Creston; grandmother Saddie Ruth Black of Avenger, Texas; father James Washington Jr. of Galveston, Texas; brother James Jerrard Smith of Webster City; sister Veronica Nichole Smith of Creston; nephews, Kimond and Antwon Smith; niece Lilly Nichole Smith and many other family and friends.
