Vogel finalist for Clarke superintendent vacancy
AFTON — East Union’s superintendent may be leaving.
Dr. Pam Vogel has held the superintendent position at the EU School District for the past five years.
However, she recently applied and was named a top five finalist for the vacant Clarke Community School District superintendent position.
“I feel I need a challenge with a larger district,” Vogel said Tuesday afternoon. “The (Clarke) School District has a lot of community support, great staff and facilities, and when I interviewed I saw a board that was really invested in making sure good things happen for their kids. They want to build a stellar school district, and I think they are just looking for a good leader to get them there.”
Finalist include Vogel, Clarke Elementary Principal Brandon Eighmy, Audubon Superintendent Brett Gibbs, Sigourney/Tri-County Superintendent Benita Gonzales and Clarke interim Superintendent Steve Seid.
Clarke School Board President Gerard Linskens told the Osceola Sentinel-Tribune this week the school board will likely make a decision and announce the new superintendent at its regularly-scheduled board meeting Monday.
The new Clarke superintendent would assume duties beginning July 1, 2013.
