Mildred Glick — Creston

Mildred Glick, 85, of Creston died April 7, 2013, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 25 and 34. The Rev. Dan Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Open visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Mildred Marie Glick, daughter of Bertha Esther (Butman) and Fay Luther Fitzgerald, was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Creston.

Mildred graduated from Creston High School.

On Feb. 14, 1953, Mildred married Raymond Don Glick in Corning.

Mildred lived her entire life in Creston. She began working as a clerk at Woolworth’s, where she worked for the next 20 years. She then worked for Places, before going to Ben Franklin and Easters, where she worked in the fabric department, retiring in 1990, after 17 years.

Mildred was active with card and breakfast clubs.

Mildred volunteered with the SHARE food distribution program for the next nine years, retiring because of health in 2005.

Mildred was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary Lodge No. 1398 and Theodore J. Martens Post No. 1797 Auxiliary, and part of the St. John’s United Church of Christ Women’s Fellowship for many years.

Mildred is survived by her son Dallas Glick of Creston; brother James (wife Betty) Fitzgerald of Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Almeda Kovach of Dover, N.J., and June (husband Gary) Loudon of Deming, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1992; brother Kenneth (Delores) Fitzgerald and a brother-in-law George Kovach.
