Shelby Monterae Burgess, 19, 302 N. Walnut St., was charged with assault 12 p.m. Sunday at 1503 N. Lincoln St.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched Saturday to 814 W. Jefferson St. for an assault that occurred. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with a female, who told officers she went to the residence of a friend, where she was met by Burgess. Burgess told her she was not allowed to attend a birthday party, started to yell at her and assaulted her by punching her several times in the head with her fist, scratched the woman’s forehead and pulled out some of her hair. Officers observed and took photos of the her injuries.

Burgess was released on $300 bond.


Brandon Scott Lawrence, 19, 510 S. Walnut St., was charged 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the Union County Law Enforcement Center with domestic abuse assault.

According to a Creston Police report, officers investigated a report of domestic assault and determined Lawrence had hit a juvenile female, who lives with him and is the mother of his child, with a fist and put his arm around her neck, which impeded breathing and circulation. According to the victim’s statement, she lost consciousness for a short time.

Lawrence is being held in the Union County Jail on $7,500 bond.


Brandon Joseph Lee Tull, 15, 501 N. Birch St., was referred to juvenile authorities at Creston High School for assault.

Tull was released to his father.
