Robert Conard — Creston

Robert Conard, 81, of Creston died April 5, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Delores Doench will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be during a lunch after the service at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established. Robert Dean Conard, son of Mary Margaret (Carns) and Glenn James Conard, was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Douglas, Wyo.

Robert graduated from Shannon City High School in 1949.

On Dec. 3, 1950, Robert married Marilynn Jean Emerson at the Methodist Church in Ankeny. They settled in the Shannon City area.

Bob farmed in the Creston area, and in 1965, he purchased a farm south of Creston.

Bob worked for Hills McCanna/Wellmans for 28 years, retiring as supervisor for quality control.

He was a member of Platte Center Presbyterian Church and Elks Lodge, both of Creston.

Bob is survived by his wife Marilynn of Creston; son Jim (wife Lesa) Conard of Diagonal; daughter Cindy (husband Chris) Mehaffy of Burlington; sister Linda Roeder of Davenport; grandchildren, JD Conard, Randi Conard, Bo (husband Brady) Geidel, Chevonne Mehaffy, Lucas (wife Sarah) Mehaffy, Noah (wife Alisha) Mehaffy and Ryan Conard; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other, nieces, nephews and other family.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son Rick and grandchildren, Ravinne and Robert Conard.
