Creston/O-M’s veteran tennis lineup went a perfect 90-0 in games in sweeping a young Corning boys squad Monday, 9-0, while the Panther girls dropped only eight of 80 games at home against the Corning girls in a similar 9-0 shutout.

Creston/O-M boys (1-1) won all six singles matches and three doubles matchups by 10-0 scores. The Panthers had five seniors and a junior in the varsity lineup.

“Both the Corning boys and girls are in a rebuilding process right now,” Creston/O-M coach Kevin Cooper said. “They have a very young team right now. It was nice to get back on the court in a meet after last week.”

Corning’s best challenge in the girls meet was an 8-3 loss at No. 3 singles by senior Audra Bartenhagen, and 8-3 defeat at No. 2 doubles by Kelsey Anstey and Bartenhagen.

Audrey Fyock won 8-1 at No. 1 singles for Creston/O-M (2-0), and Emma Johnson, Ashley Harris, Caitlin McIlravy and Jenna Taylor each won 8-0. McIlravy and Taylor prevailed 8-0 in doubles.

“The girls came out with a strong clean sweep tonight,” said Creston coach Amanda Plymale. “Our strokes and serves were on point tonight all the way through the lineup.”
