Prescott child rescued from cistern

PRESCOTT – Details have been released concerning the child that fell down a cistern Tuesday in Prescott.

According to an Adams County Sheriff report, Adams County Sheriff, Prescott Fire Department, Corning Ambulance and Corning Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 3 p.m. from Corinna Morehouse stating that her son had fallen down a dry well.

The child fell through concrete that had given way beneath him and fell approximately 10 to 15 feet, where he was trapped at the bottom.

Michael Kannas, Adams County Deputy Sheriff, climbed down an attic ladder to the child and carried him up.

The child was transported to Alegent Health Hospital in Corning, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
