NV wins Mustang Invite

SHENANDOAH — The Nodaway Valley boys claimed the small-school division crown at Tuesday’s Mustang Golf Invitational here, while the Corning boys finished sixth in the division.

Atlantic won the large-school division with a team score of 296.

Nodaway Valley scored a 344, while Corning totaled 420.

Nodaway Valley’s Delson Grantham finished 11th overall individually in both classes combined with an 18-hole score of 80. Wes Davis and Jake Speer also finished in the top 20 for the Wolverines, with rounds of 85 and 87, respectively.

“We battled the elements, but came out on top in the small school division,” Nodaway Valley head coach Steve Shantz said. “Delson Grantham is back in form after a rough start to the year and led NV, carding a 39-41-80 good for 11th place. Our three freshmen competed in their first 18-hole tournament and we counted two of the three. Wes Davis was outstanding and met his goal of mid-80s.”

Lance Swartz led Corning with a 19th-place finish with a round of 87.
