Giles medals

MOUNT AYR — Mount Ayr senior Caitlin Giles earned medalist honors with her round of 46 here Tuesday as Mount Ayr hosted Wayne, Southeast Warren, Martensdale-St. Marys and East Union.

Holly Karr shot a round of 54 for the Raiderettes.

On the boys side, the team race was tight as East Union won with a team score of 190. Mount Ayr finished second with 192, while Martensdale-St. Marys (193) finished third and Wayne (195) finished fourth.

Wayne’s Brock Draper won medalist honors with a 44 and the runner-up spot was determined on a card-off, going to Mount Ayr’s Jake Ricker with a round of 44.

Mount Ayr returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Corning.

Hull medals

GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley’s Taylor Hull won medalist honors with a round of 50, as the Wolverines hosted Guthrie Center on Tuesday.

Lizz Hansen added a round of 62 for the Wolverines and Rachel Hight shot a 65.

“Taylor was medalist, almost shooting her first round in the 40s this year,” head coach Steve Shantz said. “We need more practice time. We are improving and hope to find more consistency.”

Colton Garside led the Wolverine boys JV team with a round of 45, as the JV team fell to Guthrie Center’s varsity squad, 165-187.

“We didn’t quite meet our goal of shooting in the 170s,” Shantz said. “We are still having one bad hole ruin a round. We need more consistency, but have not had time for practices.”

NV boys 5th

COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Nodaway Valley boys golf team competed at the Lewis Central Invitational here on Friday, finishing fifth out of 12 teams.

The Wolverines posted a team score of 340. Atlantic won the competition with a score of 305, followed by Bellevue East at 321. Omaha Roncalli scored a 331 for third and East Mills shot a 339 for fourth.

“We competed well in the wind and cold on a course we have never played before,” head coach Steve Shantz said. “We placed fifth out of 12 teams, including many big schools.”

Delson Grantham led the Wolverines with an 18-hole score of 82, followed closely by Jackson Lamb’s 83 and Jake Speer’s 84. Wes Davis carded a 91, while Mason Clarke shot a 103 and Colton Garside shot a 104.

NV beats Lenox

LENOX — The Wolverine boys beat Lenox here on Monday by a score of 169-221.

Delson Grantham earned medalist honors with a round of 38. Jake Speer shot a 41 for the Wolverines.

Chase Maynes led Lenox with a round of 50.

In girls action, Nodaway Valley’s Taylor Hull won medalist honors by carding a 51. Rachel Hight added a 59 and Lizz Hansen shot a 73.

Haley Bals and Tyea Still each shot a 64 for Lenox.
