RHODES — The Creston/Orient-Macksburg boys golf team defended its title at the Ballard Invitational here Tuesday at The Harvester Golf Club.
The Panthers compiled a team score of 170, defeating Ballard and Gilbert both by seven strokes. Nevada finished fourth with a team score of 190.
“It was a great opportunity for our team to play such a fine course as The Harvester once again this year,” assistant coach Kristopher “Kritter” Hayes said. “Keeping your ball in play is key to being able to shoot a good score and for the most part, we did that well last night. We continue to battle the elements that Mother Nature is throwing at us this spring and feel prepared regardless the weather conditions.”
Junior Carson Whittington led the Panthers with a 4-over par round of 40, finishing with runner-up honors. Senior Trey Thomsen also recorded a 4-over par round of 40.
Ballard’s Nash Bucher won medalist honors with a 3-over par round of 39.
Sam Hartsock finished with a nine-hole score of 44, while Coleton Hoepker rounded out the team scoring with a 46. Kainen Somers carded a round of 47 and Christian Groumoutis finished with a 50.
Creston/O-M returns to action today as both the boys and girls travel to Corning, weather permitting.
