Nodaway Valley 2, Carroll 2

Nodaway Valley (2) — Gage Zimmerline, 27:39; Zach Brewer (Zimmerline assist), 50:30.

Valley rallies

STUART — Madi Foster dribbled in and shot the winning goal to give the Nodaway Valley/West Central Valley/Adair-Casey girls a 4-3 victory over Winterset Thursday.

The Valley girls, now 8-0, rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit. Valley took a 3-2 lead during the second half, but Cassie Woodcock’s goal tied it for Winterset before Foster hit the winner.

“This was a very exciting game tonight as they all are when we play Winterset,” said Valley coach Michael Krawczyk said. “We came out slow in the first half as we haven’t had a game in over a week. The defense did a great job once they settled down and got to know Winterset’s speed.”

Krawczyk said it was a hard-fought battle against the Huskie team playing in head coach Larry Silverthorn’s final season.

“We have great respect for his program as we have had some great battles over the years,” Krawczyk said.

The Valley girls face AHST (Avoca) tonight in Greenfield.

NV/WCV/A-C (4) — Abbie Standly, first half; Allie Fillman PK, second half; Fillman, second half; Madi Foster, second half. Shots — 8. Keeper saves — 14.

Winterset (3) — Bailey Jackson, first half; Cassie Woodcock PK, first half; Woodcock, second half. Shots — 15. Keeper saves — 5.
