Peter James Wiley, 31, 908 W. Adair St., was charged 2 p.m. Friday on three Union County warrants for fraudulent practices, failure to appear on a failure to deliver title charge and failure to appear for a reckless driving charge.

On Dec. 24, 2012,officers were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle accident. After an officer checked the registration of the two vehicles involved, the officer noticed the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the white Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Sharla Black came back registered to a red Pontiac Grand Prix registered to Wiley. It was determined the VIN on black’s vehicle had been altered by placing another vehicle’s VIN plates over it for the purpose of concealing or misrepresenting the identification of the vehicle. It was determined the vehicle was stolen after an officer discovered several VIN numbers located throughout the vehicle had been defaced or removed.


Carrie Langrille, 702 S. Poplar St., reported the back window of her GMC Yukon was shot by a pellet gun between 12:30 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Damage estimate is $200.


Mark Rains, 612 Grand Ave., Apt. 3W, reported a personal check was taken and cashed 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Check was written for $200.


Rachel Gaede, 1303 W. Mills St., reported four tires on her 2002 PT Cruiser were slashed between midnight and 12:44 a.m. Saturday.

Damage estimate is $240.
