LENOX — More than 75 people attended an open house Wednesday afternoon for the brand new Lenox Medical Clinic.

The new 3,000 square foot medical clinic — located at 100 S. Main St., Lenox — is a partnership project between Lenox Development Corporation, Lenox Medical Clinic/Greater Regional Medical Center and the residents of Lenox.

Medical staff will begin seeing patients at the new clinic 8 a.m. Wednesday.

“We had a great turnout for the open house,” said Crystal Johnson, nurse practitioner at Lenox Medical Clinic. “I think the staff and community are very excited about this new clinic. There is just so much more room, which will be a lot better for both our patients and staff.”

This new clinic has almost double the space of the current structure, which will be helpful considering there are 3,000 to 4,000 patients seen at the Lenox Medical Clinic each year.

Barb Scott, receptionist at Lenox Medical Clinic, said one of the biggest improvements in the new clinic — compared to the current clinic — is the hallways and doors are wider which gives better accessability for patients using walkers and in wheelchairs.

The new clinic has four exam rooms and one procedure room. The old clinic only had three and no procedure room. Both Johnson and Scott complimented the amount of space in the new clinic’s reception area.

Lenox Medical Clinic is a partner with Greater Regional Medical Center. Several GRMC administrative staff and board of trustees members were in attendance for Wednesday’s open house.

“The goal of this project for all the partners was to increase convenience and create improved access to high-quality health care in the Lenox area,” said LouAnn Snodgrass, GRMC executive director, continuum of care. “The old clinic worked well for many years, but this project allows for some added room and the ability for this clinic to grow.”

Snodgrass noted more than 30 companies and vendors in the Lenox and Taylor County helped in the construction of this new clinic. Snodgrass said Lenox Medical Clinic and GRMC are excited about the partnerships made during this project.

Hours at the new Lenox Medical Clinic are:

• Monday: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Johnson sees patients Monday through Friday while Dr. Kristin R. Thornton — a family practice physician offering primary care and obstetrics care — sees patients on Wednesday afternoons.

Also, Dr. Ken Stults from the Creston Vision Clinic also sees patients in Lenox two to three times per month on Wednesdays. For any additional information, contact the Lenox Medical Clinic at (641) 333-4545.
