Na Keyia Harris of Des Moines Hoover signs a national letter of intent to attend Southwestern Community College and play basketball. She is shown with head coach Addae Houston.

Addae Houston, Southwestern Community College head women’s basketball coach, announced Des Moines Hoover’s Na Keyia Harris as the first recruit for his 2013-14 basketball team.

Harris, a 6-foot-1 post player, will graduate from Herbert Hoover High School this month.  In addition to basketball, Harris played high school volleyball one year and was in the Sisters for Success program two years.

Houston likes what he sees in Harris’ dedication on and off the court and looks forward to seeing her grow at Southwestern. He feels Harris will be a solid addition to the front court for the Spartans’ team.

“Na Keyia’s basketball skills are good, but raw;” stated Houston. “I feel with some fine tuning, she has the potential to be a great post player in our conference.”
