BOONE — Boone defeated the Creston/O-M boys tennis team Tuesday, 6-3.

Coach Kevin Cooper said it was a closely-contested meet, which could have been even closer.

“Due to an academic conflict, Jacob Caviness arrived late and we were forced to forfeit the (No. 5 singles) match,” Cooper said, “since the JV was playing at DMACC. He had a final to take at SWCC and was running late getting to Boone.”

Creston/O-M (5-3) got a tiebreaker victory at No. 1 doubles by Colby Taylor and Bryce McIlravy, and singles wins from Garret Taylor and Ryan Cook.

“We had some close matches that could have gone either way,” Cooper said. “Hopefully we get another crack at them in the postseason, but we have to earn that right on Thursday.”

Creston/O-M competes in district play Thursday at Norwalk.
