Eleven graduate from High Lakes Leadership Initiative
The High Lakes Leadership Initiative Board of Directors held graduation for the class of 2013. The graduates were recognized for their achievement May 8 at Three Mile Lodge in Afton. The graduates completed a four-month, nine-session class that gave them community awareness and tools for leading change in their community, personal and work environments.
Tom Morain from Graceland University was the keynote speaker. Morain provided a presentation on how citizens from all types of backgrounds can go on to be leaders and impact future generations. He spoke of how when people harness their skills and find joy in their work, they can do amazing things. A highlight of the graduation reception was hearing each graduates’ leadership credo to improve their personal, community and work life.
The High Lakes Leadership Initiative is a program of Union County Development Association. The mission of the program is to challenge individuals in all sectors of the community to build capacity for identification of local issues, engagement in positive community change and shared leadership.
