No citations were issued after an accident 2:03 a.m. Sunday on Highway 25.
According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Stacey Ann Cass, 40, of Orient, driving a 2007 Chevrolet north on Highway 25, stated a deer ran out into the roadway, she swerved to avoid the deer and lost control of her vehicle. Cass’s vehicle entered the east ditch, rolled and came to a rest on the driver’s side on the east shoulder of the road. Cass left the scene and later called law enforcement.
Damage estimate is $10,000 to Cass’s vehicle.
No citation was issued and one injury reported after an accident 4:08 p.m. Wednesday on 275th St.
According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Alex Michael Shaw, 16, of Murray, driving a 2000 Ford west on 275th Street, entered an area where construction was happening. David Donald Myers, 44, of Powell, Wyo., driving a 2000 Ford pickup, was stopped on 275th Street to block traffic from driving over fiber optic cable lying on the road. Due to dusty gravel road conditions, Shaw did not see Myer’s vehicle until the last minute, when he tried to swerve but struck the rear of Myer’s vehicle. Shaw’s passenger, Katelyn Jo Booth, 16, of Thayer was transported by private vehicle to Greater Regional Medical Center, where her condition is unavailable.
Damage estimates are $5,500 to Shaw’s vehicle and $2,000 to Myer’s vehicle.
