Memorial Day services set

The schedule for Creston’s Memorial Day services Monday has been set, according to VFW Post 1797 Commander Gary O’Daniels.

Services will begin 8:30 a.m. with Creston’s chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution holding a memorial service at the veteran’s memorial site at McKinley Park.

At 9:30 a.m., there will be a memorial service at Cavalry Cemetery, followed by services at 10:45 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery. The keynote address will be given by Sen. Joni Ernst of Red Oak at both Cavalry and Graceland. Ernst is also a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa National Guard. Musical arrangements will be provided by Joyful Noise.

The honor guard from VFW Post 1797 will participate in all three services.

The VFW will also conduct a service 2 p.m. at Prairie View Assisted Living.
