Amanda Olivia Speed, 28, Apt. 2, 403 N. Sycamore St., was charged 3:17 a.m. Friday at 617 N. Birch St., on a Union County warrant for fifth-degree theft.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10 p.m. May 27, a Casey's employee reported she witnessed Speed enter Casey's West, 621 New York Ave., and take a purse and wallet from a shelf in the store. Speed concealed the purse and wallet underneather jacket and walked out of the store without paying. The purse and wallet had a total value of $59.98.

Speed was released on $300 bond.

Paul Daniel Clark, 25, 1001 N. Elm St., was charged 9:50 p.m. Friday at Union County Law Enforcement Center for violation of a protective order.

According to a Creston Police report, at 7:37 p.m., Mercedes Lane reported that Clark showed up at her residence, 507 S. Walnut St. Lane filled out a statement reference of the incident. A check of the Iowa system indicated that Lane and Clark have a valid protective order that does not expire until March 21, 2014.

Clark was released on $300 bond.

Joshua Edward Simmons, 33, of Villisca, was charged 5:17 a.m. Saturday at Union County Law Enforcement Center for operating while intoxicated.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were patrolling the area of Highway 34 and noticed a white car driving recklessly out of the McDonald's parking lot. The car hit a curb and made an illegal U-turn on the highway. Officers stopped the car in the Casey's parking lot and noticed the driver had slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. Officers ran him through tests and noticed he was intoxicated by the tests he failed, and brought him to the Union County Law Enforcement Center to take the Data Master. He blew a .193.

Simmons was released on $2,000 bond.
