‘Battle against Cancer’ here Thursday
The Creston baseball team hosts a special occasion Thursday during the Hawkeye 10 Conference game against state-rated Glenwood.
On the eve of the Relay for Life at Creston High School, coach Steve Birchard’s team is continuing the tradition of their “Battle Against Cancer” event.
“Five years ago Sarah Jannings asked (assistant coach) Gerry Miller if the Creston baseball team would help fill the Relay for Life luminaries with sand and place candles in them,” Birchard said. “The morning of Relay for Life we always practice, and then go over and help with the luminaries. Over the years it has evolved into our team placing the luminaries on the track.”
