Afton PreFourth planned

AFTON — Afton Lions Club is making plans for its annual PreFourth Celebration to be held June 30 at Afton City Park. The event will begin with a community church service at 10 a.m., followed by lunch served by Afton Methodist Women.

Starting at 1 p.m., children can play on inflatable bounce houses, obstacle course and slides. There will be a variety of games, such as a pop toss, football throw, coin toss, duck pond and more. Game tickets will sell for 25 cents each or five for $1. Raffle tickets will be sold at $1 each or six for $5 for chances to win prizes.

The classic car and tractor show be held, with sign up to begin at 1 p.m.

Local dancers will be performing from the Spotlight Dance Studio at 1 p.m., Dance Explosion at 2 p.m. and Leslie’s Dance Emporium at 3 p.m. Music will be provided by the Country Road Runner band beginning at 4 p.m.

A new addition to the celebration this year will be a flea market and vendor show. Possible exhibits could include baked goods, produce, purses, jewelry, fashion accessories, kitchen items, home decor and more. Interested vendors can reserve a spot for $10. Afton Lions will begin serving supper (free-will donation) at 5:30 p.m. The menu will include pulled pork sandwich, chips, potato or macaroni salad, dessert bar and tea or lemonade.

Bring lawn chairs and come take part in the celebration.
