GREENFIELD — Get an early start on the Fourth of July by walking or running in the Clover Run slated to start at 8 a.m. July 4 in Greenfield. The event is organized by Adair County 4-H Youth Council and features a 5K run, 2-mile run, 2-mile walk and kid races.

“It is a great holiday activity for the entire family,” said Alex Welsch, chairman of this year’s event. “The run is for a great cause, too. The youth council uses the proceeds to build the Kelly Laughery Memorial 4-H Community Service Scholarship Fund.”

Ten 2013 graduates received $200 scholarships this year from the special fund.

Advance registrations for the race can be made at Adair County Extension. On-site registrations are also accepted at the race beginning at 7 a.m. in front of Greenfield City Hall. The race is slated to begin promptly at 8 a.m. Medals will be awarded to age group winners. The top male and female in the 5K, 2-mile run and 2-mile walk will receive a homemade apple pie for their efforts. All children competing in the foot races will receive a special ribbon immediately following the completion of the road races.
