George Sharp — Arispe

George Sharp, 58, of Arispe died June 13, 2013, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

No local public service is scheduled. Open visitation will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. Cremation with burial and memorial services will be held in Galesburg, Ill. Memorials may be directed to Greater Regional Hospice Home. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

George Merril Sharp, son of Ruth and Gerald Palmer Sharp, was born Dec. 7, 1954, in Galesburg, Ill.

George graduated from Knoxville High School in Galesburg.

On July 19, 1974, George married Jackie Lynn Boone in East Galesburg, Ill. They settled and worked in Galesburg.

George worked for Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg for approximately 15 years.

George and Jackie divorced in 1987.

George did trucking, driving for various companies over the years. He moved to Creston in 2004, where he worked at Fansteel-Wellman Dynamics.

In 2006, George married Joyce Roseann (Smith) Youmans. They settled and lived in the Arispe area. They later divorced.

George retired in January 2013, because of his health condition.

George was a member of the Eagles Lodge of Creston.

George is survived by his daughter Brandy (husband Damion) Ulum of Galesburg, Ill.; granddaughter Braydin Weir of Galesburg, Ill.; and brother Jerry (wife Sharon) Sharp of Colorado and his former wife Joyce Youmans of Arispe.

George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edgar Brown and Roger Sharp; and sister Sharon.
