Sand Creek Pioneers

Sand Creek Pioneers 4-H Club held its monthly meeting 5 p.m. June 9 at the Arispe Church. Catelin Haight, vice president, called the meeting to order. Kennady Fry lead the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. The 4-H pledge was lead by Paige Oliver. Members of the club answered roll call by stating their favorite summertime activity.

Allison Hadley, secretary, read the minutes from the May meeting. The treasurer’s report was given. County Council members reported the council had not met since the last 4-H meeting. Cali Foglesong shared she had not submitted the write up from the May meeting to the newspaper because she was absent at the May meeting.

Sarah told club members the newsletter had been sent out, and she reminded members to read the newsletter for upcoming events. She also reminded members they have to attend four meetings in order to show at the fair. Sarah Hadley let members know who still needed to attend more meetings.

For old business, Sarah showed the club members the T-shirt design.

The club discussed the project of painting Arispe Park/City Hall. They will let the club know some possible dates. Sarah also reminded the members about fair queen candidates and asked eligible individuals to consider running.

For new business, the club discussed the float for the fair parade. It was decided that members will where the club T-shirt and masks. A committee was formed to finish planning for the fair float. The club will order decorations for the float and look into getting a vinyl banner for the float. Either the Long or Haight family will provide the trailer and truck for the parade.

The next meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 14 at the Arispe Church. Members are to bring snacks to share with everyone else. Any member who hasn’t given a presentation yet this year will give one at the July meeting.

The meeting was adjourned by Emma Harper and seconded by Kennady Fry.

Paige Oliver, Cole Oliver and Beth McKnight gave presentations. Paige’s presentation was about her skinny pig. Cole did a presentation about football. McKnight did a presentation about projects she has done in the past for fair.
