Gerald Baker, 87, of Clearfield died June 14, 2013, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Christian Church in Clearfield. The Rev. Al Rusk will officiate. Burial will be in Clearfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 200 Broadway St., Clearfield, is in charge of arrangements. Gerald Baker, son of Rose (Beck) and Ernest Baker, was born May 12, 1926, on a farm two miles north and one mile east of Clearfield.
Gerald graduated from Clearfield High School in 1944 and entered the U.S. Navy, where he served until his discharge in June 1946.
On Dec. 26, 1948, Gerald married Dorothy Jean Symonds in Lenox.
Gerald engaged in farming all of his life. Gerald was honored with the Century Farm Award and accepted this honor at the Iowa State Fair, along with his grandsons, in August of 2007.
In 1999, Gerald and Dorothy moved to Clearfield.
After the move to town, Gerald served as mayor for a two-year term starting Jan. 1, 2006.
Gerald is survived by his wife Dorothy of Clearfield; sons, Jerry (Mary) Baker of Clearfield and John Baker of England; grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan and Amelia; and brother Carroll (LeAnn) Baker of Clearfield.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; brother Earl Baker; and infant daughter Connie Baker.
