Freshmen drop two

CLARINDA — The Clarinda freshman softball team swept Creston Wednesday, 12-9 and 13-1.

After Creston went ahead 2-1 in the top of the second, Clarinda answered with seven runs in the opener. Creston fought back to trail by three at the time limit.

Morghan Frey led the Panthers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with four RBI. Hannah Fogle had a hit and walk and knocked in two runs. Cammy Rutherford, Leah Stow and Cydney Seley each had an RBI. Fogle took the pitching loss, finishing with three strikeouts and one walk with nine hits allowed in three innings.

Creston had no hits in the second game. Cammy Rutherford took the loss, yielding 10 hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Panthers played Glenwood at home Thursday.
