Little League night

Little League Recognition Night will be held Tuesday, June 25, at the Creston High School baseball and softball fields as the Panthers play the Atlantic Trojans in Hawkeye 10 action.

At the baseball field for the varsity doubleheader, Little League players wearing their league shirts will gain free admission. They will be recognized shortly after 7 p.m., prior to the playing of the National Anthem between games.

Youth softball players, also gaining free admission wearing team shirts, are asked to arrive by 5:45 p.m. to enter the drawing for those chosen to be introduced along with starters for the second game.

Brian Bucklin, director of last weekend’s youth baseball camp at Creston, reported the Thunder Baseball Club raised $650 for Creston Baseball/Softball Association through operation of the camp.

“Thanks, it was a lot of fun,” said Bucklin, former Creston and University of Iowa player who now coaches St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kan.

“Having an alumni with Brian’s backgroiund inb aseball, giving back to the hyouth program, is wonderful,” said Mike Linch, president of Creston Baseball/Softball Association. Brian is donating moneyu raised to the Creston Youth League that will be used to help improve facilities for the players.”
