Nodaway Valley 20, East Union 14
AFTON — Nodaway Valley overcame a 10-run second inning by East Union to win the first game Thursday, 20-14.
Jackson Lamb pitched 5 1/3 innings of relief of starter Casey Ladd to earn the victory.
He allowed five hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
Offensively, Trevor Jameson was 4-5 with six RBI. His hits included a triple and double. Lamb was 3-4 and Baley Shantz and Zack Eblen each had two hits and three RBI.
Caleb Case scored four runs for East Union, and Jeremiah Crago, Jacy Eklund,
Brandon Hulsey and Jonathan Weis each scored two.
Nodaway Valley 14, East Union 4
AFTON — Ryan Williams pitched the 14-4 game two victory for Nodaway Valley, allowing eight hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
Trevor Jameson drove in three runs on three hits and Jackson Lamb had two RBI on three hits. Baley Shantz knocked in three runs on two hits and Colton Garside had a pair of hits and two RBI. Zach Eblen also had two hits.
Lenox 11, Wayne 5
LENOX — Lenox broke open a close game with six runs i the sixth inning in beating Wayne Friday night, 11-5.
Winning pitcher Caleb Lange struck out 10, walked two and allowed four hits.
Dustyn Rauch was 3-4 with two RBI for Lenox. Hugo Montiel and Mason Peterson each doubled and drove in two runs. Dusten Reed drove in two runs for Lenox, 11-6 overall and 6-5 in the Pride of Iowa.
Wayne’s Dillan Lain hit two home runs with three RBI. Tyler Jamieson also homered.
SE Warren 10, Corning 2
MILO — Keegan Longabaugh and Drey Barton each doubled for Corning against Southeast Warren’s Colin Judkins, one of the top pitchers in the conference, in Friday’s 10-2 loss.
Ryan Carlson and Hunter Pontius also had hits for Corning. Clint Mullen pitched three innings, with relief from Lance Swartz and Barton.
“I liked the way we went to the plate looking to time him out, and we got some big outs in the field that prevented the run-rule coming into effect in the fifth and sixth innings,” coach Pete Nett said.
Mormon Trail 9
HUMESTON — Murray pounded out 18 hits in a 15-9 victory over Mormon Trail Friday night.
Daulton Winship was 3-5 with a double, home run and two RBI. Sam Rockhold had two runs, two RBI and three hits. Brayden Held was 3-5 with two RBI and Pat Kilmer drove in two runs on two hits. Cody Scroggie was 2-4 with three RBI and three stolen bases. Corey McCracken had a pair of hits.
On the mound, Held was the winner with two earned runs allowed in 4 1/3 innings, with two strikeouts and two walks. Scroggie pitched 2 2/3 innings with one earned run, four strikeouts and three walks.
