MOUNT AYR — Mason Peterson shut down the Mount Ayr bats in a 7-2 Lenox win here on Tuesday.
Peterson struck out eight in the win, giving up just two runs on five hits with two walks.
Caleb Lange, Todd Stoaks and Spencer Brown each came up with two hits for the Tigers, as Stoaks hit a double and drove in three runs, while Brown finished with a double and two RBI. Hugo Montiel also drove in one run.
For Mount Ayr, Weston Schnoor took the loss on the mound.
Schnoor and Zane Sickels each went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI apiece. Erik Freed had a single and stole two bases for the Raiders.
Nodaway Valley 15, Corning 0
GREENFIELD — Nodaway Valley scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game with a 15-0 win over Corning here on Tuesday.
Trevor Jameson picked up the win on the mound for the Wolverines, pitching four innings with nine strikeouts and issuing just two walks with three hits.
Mason Clarke went 3-for-3 at the plate with two singles, a triple and two RBI. James was 2-2 with a triple, double and one RBI. Baley Shantz went 2-3 and drove in two runs.
Casey Ladd and Aaron Baudler both finished 2-3 with an RBI and Jackson Lamb went 1-2 with an RBI.
For Corning, Lance Swartz took the loss, going three innings and allowing seven earned runs with five strikeouts and six walks. Spencer Bull pitched in relief, giving up three earned runs on five walks.
William Roberts, Keegan Longabaugh and Drey Barton each singled for the only three hits of the game for Corning.
“We had the bases loaded in the second when it was 1-0 and two guys on in the third when it was still 2-0, but we just couldn’t push anything across,” Corning head coach Pete Nett said. “The nightmare of errors in the last two innings sealed our fate. Lance didn’t pitch nearly as poorly as his line suggests. We just didn’t do right by him in the field.”
