Murray 11, Seymour 1
MURRAY — The Murray baseball team picked up an 11-1 Bluegrass Conference win over Seymour here on Tuesday, needing only six innings to do so.
The Mustangs ran wild on the basepaths in the win, with three players swiping multiple bases.
Cody Scroggie led the way, going 2-for-4 at the plate and collecting six stolen bases. Dalton Winship went 2-2 and stole three bases. Austin Halls was 2-3 with two stolen bases.
Corey McCracken and Sam Rockhold, meanwhile, did the bulk of the damage driving in runs.
McCracken was 3-4 with three runs batted in and Rockhold went 2-4 with a home run and three RBI. Raymond Barlage and Justin Jones each drove in a run, as Jones went 3-4 at the plate.
Braydon Held picked up the win on the mound for the Mustangs, giving up one earned run and striking out five in four innings of work. Winship pitched two innings of relief, giving up one hit and striking out two.
Lamoni 7, Lenox 6
LENOX — The Lenox Tigers dropped a back-and-forth battle to Lamoni, 7-6, here Tuesday, dropping the Tigers to 12-7 for the season.
Caleb Lange smacked a home run and drove in four runs for the Tigers. Todd Stoaks went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI, while Spencer Brown hit a double and drove in one run. Dustin Gordon went 2-3.
Brown took the loss on the mound, giving up two unearned runs in the top of the sixth inning. Stoaks started the game and went 3 2/3 innings before giving way to Brown.
The Lenox pitchers combined to give up seven runs on 10 hits with six walks and three strikeouts.
Murray 14, O-M 4
ORIENT — Murray collected 16 hits in a 14-4 win over Orient-Macksburg here on Wednesday.
Cody Scroggie led the way, going 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, triple and three runs batted in. He also swiped three bases, making him 36-of-37 for the season on stolen base attempts.
Austin Halls was 3-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Sam Rockhold went 3-3 with an RBI, while Pat Kilmer stroked two hits and drove in two runs. Justin Jones went 2-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Halls picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs with five strikeouts.
Shenandoah 16, Corning 1
CORNING — Corning pitchers struggled to find the strike zone in a 16-1 loss to Shenandoah here on Wednesday.
Ryan Carlson singled and drove in the lone run of the game for the Red Raiders, while Drey Barton singled and scored. Keegan Longabaugh also recorded a single.
Clint Mullen was charged with the loss, going 1/3 of an inning and allowing four earned runs. William Roberts pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, giving up eight earned runs.
“Our inability to throw enough strikes early put us behind,” head coach Pete Nett said. “I really liked the way we put the ball in play the first couple of innings, getting the bases loaded in the second, but we stopped making quality swings once we got too far behind.”
