Mary Matheny, 70, of Lenox died June 25, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox. Interment will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at Ritchie Funeral Home, 124 S. Main St., Lenox. Memorials may be given in Mary’s name. Mary Naomi Matheny, daughter of Darlene Mae (Leedom) and Paul Myron Winslow, was born March 24, 1943, in Lenox.
Mary grew up on the family farm near Sharpsburg and graduated from Lenox High School in 1960.
On March 14, 1964, Mary married Gail Dean Matheny.
Mary spent most of her life in and around the Lenox area. She worked several different jobs over her career, working at White Way Café, Sheridan Egg Company and others. For the past several years, she worked at Cheese’s Food Market as a cashier and bookkeeper.
Mary is survived by her husband Gail Matheny; children, David (Becky) Snedeker of Bellevue, Neb., Terri (Ron) Jennett of Osceola, Mike (Terrill) Matheny of Omaha, Neb., and Tami (Pete) Gray of Tucson, Ariz.; sister Connie Jensen of Smithville Lake, Mo.; brother David (Zelda) Winslow of Davenport; grandchildren, Shelby and Aubrey Snedeker, Brian (Kate), Heidi and Kevin Jennett, Ryan, Ashton and Jordan Matheny, Colten and Zaine Gray and Kaleb and Emma Ricke; special friends, Mark and Lynne Preston; along with many other family members and friends.
