Whittington tied for 27th

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Creston junior Carson Whittington has dropped into a three-way tie for 27th place at the American High School Championship at St. Andrews after day two of the three-day tournament.

Whittington, who opened with a round of 77 on the first day, shot an 18-hole score of 86 on day two at the St. Andrews Eden Course on Wednesday.

That puts the reigning Class 3A individual state champion at a two-day score of 163, putting him in a three-way tie for 27th place out of 42 boys competitors.

Whittington’s team, coached by Creston/Orient-Macksburg assistant golf coach Kristopher “Kritter” Hayes, has shot a two-day team score of 629, placing it in sixth place in the team standings.

The tournament concludes today.
