Whittington finishes 24th

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Creston junior Carson Whittington finished 24th overall out of 44 competitors at the American High School Championship at St. Andrews here on Thursday.

Whittington shot a three-day, 54-hole total score of 247.

The reigning Class 3A individual state champion recorded a score of 84 on the final day of competition Thursday on the Jubilee Course, helping him to move up a couple of spots from a tie for 27th entering the third and final round.

Whittington’s team, one of two teams being coached by Creston/Orient-Macksburg assistant golf coach Kristopher “Kritter” Hayes, finished fourth in the team standings with a total score of 961, just six strokes behind second place. The first place team finished with a total of 908.
