MURRAY — Cody Scroggie had yet another big game for the Murray Mustangs here Monday, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, two runs batted in and four more stolen bases.

Corey McCracken, Austin Halls and Sam Rockhold each recorded two hits with one RBI apiece, while Pat Kilmer and Dalton Winship each finished with one RBI on one hit apiece.

Held picked up the win on the mound, going the complete game and giving up just three hits, striking out five and walking only one.

Essex/South Page 5, Corning 4

CORNING — Essex scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and Corning couldn’t answer, falling 5-4.

Spencer Bull singled and drove in two runs for the Red Raiders. Lane Peterson and Drey Barton each drove in one run, as Barton hit a double.

Lance Swartz took the loss on the mound, pitching a complete game and giving up five earned runs, while striking out seven with one walk.

“We were one out from winning, and it just didn’t happen for us,” Corning head coach Pete Nett said. “Lance Swartz pitched an absolutely great game for us. We left 10 runners on base again tonight.”
