From Delmar Brown
I go South for a few months and our local spending is still on going. The school board is still wanting to go to AEA location, which has no good reasons? DOT resricting exit on Lincoln must spend big bucks to go west to school for loading just to develop AEA area will add to cost only to develop area not big enough for parking too?
Hood pushed for this as well as spending extra money on track that did not fix wetness at south end and Hood caused bus barn that was fixable? (But Hood had it taken down.) Doors and some tin on the roof on the west end, while east end repair garage needed some structure, plus metal replaced. Hood also cut budget to replace one school bus each year. We have one bus over 23 years old. With several buses over 10 years of age, the bus over 23 years needs transmission and brake work.
Due to dept. of education controling bus inspections, the DM Register article noted school including Creston being weak on maintance. It came out in inspection records, out of over 6,000 inspections not one bus needed new brakes and yet shortly after last June’s inspection, we had five buses needed brake problems repairs due to excessive ware to rear brake shoes, one bus had over 100,000 miles and the inspected bus records on line showed no problem but brakes and was replaced. Hood put off routine maintance like oil changes and fuel filters? Thus, buses with student on them didn’t get to outing or like four buses to Hy-Vee hall/ one limped home with defective fuel filter and before it was replaced it was still sent to south side to pick up and return with kids across the tracks and it didn’t get back (If bus was a newer bus its computer would have shut it down. What about student safety at what cost) We must replace older buses and keep up routine maintance likes brakes and fuel filters. If you check Napa expense records of fuel filter and expense of rear brakes and hub/drums also replaced due to ware.
Why did we pay Mr. Green on paid leave and now we may also pay him vacation pay on his contract that evidence notes board didn’t approve and his own changes to his contract are expected?
Why is city spending 50K to move a brick house they bought only to move it for no good reason. We have lots of space to build new homes. Must build apts for 55 plus seniors with one level on ground floor. Let’s don’t spend if not needed.
I am concerned big time.
