Nona Scheesley Creston

Nona Scheesley, 93, of Creston died July 2, 2013, at Crest Haven Care Centre.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be in Murray Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Pleasant Valley Church. Online condolences may be left www.powersfh.com.

Nona May Scheesley, daughter of Rosa Ellan Mahlie (Hayden) and Jacob Joseph Kirsch, was born May 2, 1920, in Madison County.

Nona graduated from Peru Community Schools.

Nona married David Ruggles, and they settled in Denver, Colo. They later divorced.

Nona married Denzel Eledge, and they settled in Oakland, Calif. They moved to Grass Valley, Calif., where Nona was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Grass Valley and worked as a waitress. Nona and Denzel later divorced.

Nona married Robert Scheelsey in Arkansas. They made their home in Murray. They moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where she began working as a homemaker and assisting Robert with remodeling homes. Nona and Robert divorced in 2000.

Nona retired in 2000.

Later, Nona and Robert remarried in 2003, in Grant City, Mo., and settled in Creston.

Nona is survived by her son Bruce Eledge (wife Jeanette) of Sequim, Wash.; nephew Jake Rickets of Randall, Wash.; daughter-in-law Rhonda Eledge of Eugene, Ore.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Nona was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; sons, Larry Ruggles and Gary Eledge; brothers, John, Evertt, Wayne and Jack Kirsch; and sisters, Cepha Emmerson, Hazel (Kirsch) Rickets, Grace Decker and Darlene Dooley.
