LENOX — Everyone is welcome to watch artistic and athletic skills in action when Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps comes to Lenox Monday.
An entourage with charter buses containing 200 musicians, instructors and volunteers, semi trucks and trailers containing musical equipment, uniforms and an entire functioning kitchen and other support vehicles will arrive at approximately 4:30 a.m.
The drum corps with members from all over the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Japan will spend the day perfecting a display of outdoor pageantry, “Speakeasy” for their next competition.
Down dark alleys and into secret back rooms, those “in the know” went to where jazz, overflowing glasses and the latest dance crazes defined America’s new attitude of celebration – the Speakeasy.
The sensational flapper became the symbol of the new wild and wonderful vitality of the 1920s. The roar inside the Speakeasy was loud and unstoppable as America pulsed to an untamed sound.
