Charlotte "Charly" Proctor, 9, won first place in the 10,000 Crestonians Talent Show held July 4 at McKinley Park. Proctor won $25 in prize money and decided to donate the money to Dog Gone Rescue — Creston's non-profit animal shelter.

Proctor purchased dog and cat food, bones and toys for Dog Gone Rescue. Janel McLain, manager of the animal shelter, was moved by the gesture calling Proctor an "amazing young girl" and that her donation really made a difference. (Proctor is pictured with McLain in the photo located right.)

Proctor, from Altoona, is the daughter of Heather and Bryan Proctor. Charly and her sister Stella come to Creston each Fourth of July to enjoy the celebration and spend time with their grandparents Jim and Debbie Norman.
