Assistive technology presentation to be held Thursday

Creston Area Parkinsons Disease Support Group will be meeting 10 a.m. Thursday at Crest Baptist Church, 1211 N. Poplar St.

Gary Johnson, a behavioral health consultant with the Iowa Program for Assistive Technology, will be the guest speaker. He has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin and master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from Drake University.

Johnson will present information and show assistive equipment. He will introduce a variety of new daily-living aids. See how technology can be tailored to work for individuals.

Attendees will learn about gadgets that make tasks easier. Johnson will show programs on the iPad and iPhone that are applicable for people with physical impairments. Also, he will discuss the access to used equipment, funding options and tours of the Assistive Technology Demonstration Center.

Anyone with physical limitations, caregivers and health-care professionals are invited to this meeting.
