NORMAN, Okla. — Ryan McKim of Creston, who has been a graduate assistant for the offensive line coaching staff at Iowa State University, begins his new position on the University of Oklahoma football coaching staff on Monday.
McKim, 2004 graduate of Creston High School and graduate of Iowa State, will be special teams quality control coach on the staff of head coach Bob Stoops. He plans to continue his graduate work and obtain his master’s degree from Iowa State within a year.
In his work with USA Baseball, SWCC athletic director and former baseball coach Bill Krejci has had an opportunity to coach five players who will appear in next week’s Major League All-Star Game.
American Leaguers who have played for Krejci in USA Baseball competition are J.J. Hardy and Manny Machado of the Baltimore Orioles and Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins.
Those on the National League team are Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals and Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves, who won the NL fan vote for the final spot on Thursday.
Creston High School Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the class of 2013.
Individuals may be nominated in three different categories. These are alumni, faculty and contributor. Those chosen will be honored during Creston’s homecoming activities. Distinguished alumni need to be individuals who graduated from Creston and have been out of high school for a minimum of seven years.
Distinguished faculty need to be Creston School District teachers, counselors and administrators who have retired or left at least two years prior to nomination. Distinguished contributors need to be individuals who have made a significant contribution to Creston High School.
Nomination forms may be picked up at Creston High School office or downloaded from the crestonschools.org website. Nominations are due in the high school office by July 20.
