Open class textiles, art show at Union County Fair

AFTON — The Textile and Art Department of the Union County Fair invites anyone interested in entering.

The categories of homemade clothing, quilts, needlework, arts and crafts or photography will be taking entries 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday or 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at the fairgrounds in Afton in the 4-H building. There is an entry fee of 50 cents per entry. There is also a division for children 14 and younger.

Judging starts at noon Monday for arts and crafts and 2 p.m. for textiles.

Sweepstakes awards will be given to those receiving the most blue ribbons in the arts and crafts, photography, quilting and the 14 and younger divisions.

A “Quilt Show and Tell Hour” will be held 6:30 p.m. July 24 in the 4-H building. Anyone wishing to bring a favorite, new, old or unusual quilt for “show and tell” may do so. Individuals who just enjoy quilts and want to see them may come. Everyone is welcome.
