Leo Francis Long, 36, 509 S. Cherry St., was charged 3 a.m., Saturday in the 300 block of Jarvis Street for operating while intoxicated, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, officers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Dodge. The driver was identified as Long by Iowa ID card. While speaking with Long, officers smelled alcohol on his person and asked if he had been drinking. Long said he had and consented to field sobriety and PBT testing. The PBT testing resulted in a blood alcohol content of .227, and Long was transported to the law enforcement center.

Long was relased on $1,000 bond.

Ridge Allen Casteel, 17, 310 New York Ave., was charged 12:46 p.m., Saturday on a Union County warrant for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Casteel was referred to juvenile authorities.

Robert Gene Shimer, 31, 611 W. Mills St., was charged 10:49 p.m., Saturday at Manor Drive Apartments for domestic abuse assault.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to Manor Drive Apartments and spoke with Shimer and Christina Shimer upon arrival. Christina told officers Shimer grabbed her arm and tried to push her out of a moving vehicle. Shimer told officers he did try to push her out of a vehicle. Statements were taken and Shimer was taken to the law enforcement center.

Shimer was released on his own recognizance.

Jason Ronald Rutherford, 1278 Green Valley Rd., reported a 1999 Honda XR70 dirt bike was taken from his yard between Tuesday and Friday.

Loss estimate is $1,000.

Timothy Thompson, 114 N. Elm St., reported four checks had been taken from his checking account between Wednesday and Friday.

Loss estimate is $700.79.

Karen Ann Mccelland, 201 W. Mills St., reported the rear driver’s side window of her 2002 Buick Lesabre was broken out between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

Damage estimate is $200.
