Bernard R. Routh, 81, of Whiting, formerly of Clearfield, died July 12, 2013, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield. The Rev. Bill Armstrong will officiatie. Burial will be in Clearfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, Clearfield, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund will be established in his name. Bernard R. Routh, son of Gladys “Sue” (Bailey) and Addis Routh, was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Clearfield.
He graduated from Clearfield High School.
On Aug. 16, 1964, Bernard married Marilyn Stewart.
Bernard was employed many years at Burgess Memorial Hospital as a payroll clerk, maintenance manager and served with the Burgess ambulance. He was also a bookkeeper for Moss Nursing Home and manager at IGA grocery store, all in Onawa. He then became office manager at ANSCO Seed in Whiting for 20 years, until he retired at the age of 78.
He played the electric organ at several churches.
Bernard is survived by his wife Marilyn Routh of Whiting; sons, David Edward Routh of Sioux City and John Anthony “Tony” of Onawa; brothers, Bill (Anna) Routh of Coffee Creek, Mont., and Ronnie (Bonnie) Routh of Creston; sister Gwen (Spencer) Sandeman of Creston; and sister-in-law Martha Routh of Cresco.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, J. B. (Dorothy) Routh, Richard Routh and Mick Routh; and infant sister Betty.
