Nationals

FARGO, N.D. — Chase Shiltz of Creston, a freshman this fall at Creston High School, went 1-2 at 152 pounds in the SSICS/Vaughan Cadet National Championships at the FargoDome last week.

Shiltz competed in the freestyle competition. Nick Reenan of Texas was the 152-pound Cadet freestyle champion.

As a team, Iowa was sixth with 31 points. Illinois was first with 99 points, followed by Pennsylvania with 60.

Wednesday run

Creston cross country will not have a supervised Wednesday morning run this week, but runners are still encouraged to get out and run on their own.

The next supervised Wednesday morning run will be 7:30 a.m. on July 31 in front of the high school.

Football camp

Creston/Orient-Macksburg football coach Brian Morrison will be hosting a junior padded camp for students in grades 4-6 on Aug. 5-7 at the Creston High School practice fields.

The camp will run from 9-10:30 a.m. each day and the cost of the camp is $20, which includes a t-shirt and Gatorade provided for the athletes. Participants are asked to bring workout clothes and cleats.

There will also be a camp for junior high students in grades 7-8 on Aug. 5-7 at the Creston High School practice fields.

The junior high camp will run from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The cost for the junior high camp is also $20, which includes a t-shirt and Gatorade. Athletes are asked to bring workout clothes and cleats.

The high school football camp for students in grades 9-12 will run from 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 5-9 at the Creston High School practice fields.

Athletes are asked to bring workout clothes and cleats.

The cost for the high school football camp is $30, which includes a T-shirt, shorts and Gatorade.

The Creston/O-M football camps will be put on by the football staff at the middle school and high school level. The camp will focus on fundamentals and installing the offensive and defensive game plan that will be used at each individual level.

Camp registration forms can be picked up at the high school office. Athletes can preregister by taking the form and money to the high school office, or they can register on the first day of camp.
