Dale Nelson, 81, of St. Joseph, Mo., died July 16, 2013, at his home.
Services will be noon Monday, July 29, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Mo. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be given to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Dale Robert Nelson, son of Lela (Putnam) and Charles Nelson, was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Creston.
Dale was a graduate of Creston High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Dale worked as a farmer and owned and operated Green Valley Butcher Shop.
Dale was of the Baptist faith.
On Aug. 15, 1955, Dale married Ingrid Louise Kruger in Chicago, Ill., after meeting her in Germany.
Dale is survived by his wife Ingrid of St. Joseph, Mo.; sons, Terry Lee Nelson (companion Gun Evans) of Kansas City, Mo., and Andreas Dale Nelson of Thayer; grandchild Teki Nelson; great-grandchildren, Andreas, Draven and Izzy; brothers, Charles Walter (Helga) Nelson of Port Orange, Fla., and Everett Eugene (Barbara) Nelson of Loveland, Colo.; sister Dr. Phyllis Joan (Dr. Kirpal) Singh of Daytona Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law John Priest of Afton and sister-in-law Violet Nelson of Tucson, Ariz.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Oral Dean and Harold Duane Nelson.
